What inspired you to create Play Pilates?
That’s a great question and one I love answering.
Let me start by saying - I’m that friend who texts you “OMG i just tried this new _ _ _, it’s life changing & you have to buy it/try it/do it NOW!” lol
Forever sharing (unsolicited) health and wellness advice with family & friends to make sure they’re looking & feeling they’re best.
Pilates for me has been so much more than just a form of movement. It has strengthened my connection to myself & my approach to health and wellness. I instantly fell in love with how it made me feel strong both physically and mentally. Naturally I had to share it with EVERYBODY.
Play has evolved organically, but at its core it was created to evoke the fun & pleasure back into movement, health & wellness. For me, Play is all about staying curious & empowering members to tune into their own body and move in a way that feels best for them.
Who or what has been your greatest muse or inspiration on this path?
I was just talking about this with a girlfriend recently.
I am most inspired when I intentionally take time out to myself. This may be an hour in the sun or a week away somewhere new. (I literally just booked a solo trip for the end of July so thanks for the inspo!) These moments clear out the noise to create space for fresh ideas and opportunities that have been waiting for me to notice them.
What are some of the highs and lows you’ve experienced when starting your own business that surprised you?
Wow there have been a lot of these! Starting a business has taught me so much about myself. My greatest lessons have come from perseverance - I look back at all the scary decisions & self doubt, & now know that on the other side of those hard times, the biggest rewards came.
What is your favourite way to move your body?
I’ll give you one guess.. haha PILATES! My favourite class on the platform right now is TOTAL BODY TORCH - 35 minutes of triceps, glutes & core. It’s been so sunny in Sydney lately so I take my phone to the park & hit Play in the sun.
How do you best calm your mind?
I have a long list depending on the mood or the moment. My top 3 are;
-An ocean dip for a complete reset
-Legs up the wall & deep breathing, relaxes my mind & my body
-Face Reflexology to active parasympathetic nervous system & lymphatic drainage.
What is a quote you love or live by, either in your own words or another?
I choose a quote each year & this year is: “I never lose, I either win or I learn.
