Reclaiming Winter Movement

Reclaiming Winter Movement Together
Winter has a way of slowing everything down. The sun disappears before dinner. The air gets colder and heavier. Even the most motivated among us find ourselves hitting pause. The pressure to be productive feels a little quieter. And honestly? We’re okay with that.
We’re learning that this season doesn’t have to be about pushing through. It can be about softening into what is. Moving gently. Resting deeply. Choosing connection over performance.
Letting Movement Be Small
There’s a version of movement that many of us have carried for a long time. The kind that’s all about doing the most, tracking steps, beating our PB. The kind that’s tied to goals and pressure and proving something.
But winter, in all its stillness, has taught us something different. It’s given us space to pause and rethink what movement can look like. It’s reminded us that movement should be kind, gentle and intentional when it needs to be
Some of our favourite ways to move right now:
Walking around our office car park at lunchtime
Quick stretch on the rug while the kettle boils
Having a little dance through the house in the morning as it warms up.
These small, quiet moments don’t look like a workout. But they are movement all the same. And they count.
Ditching All-or-Nothing Thinking
This winter, we’re unlearning the idea that movement has to be all or nothing. It doesn’t have to be a 45-minute class or a total rest day. There’s a whole world in between!
Some days, it’s enough to stretch while still wearing your PJ’s or to pace around the house under the idea of cleaning. Or to put on a song, move however your body wants to, and call it done when the music ends.
Some of our team favourites:
Pinky’s go-to: Slow morning stretches with our PJ's still on
Kamal’s vibe: getting the steps in while tidying up
Together: Light a candle. Put on one song. Move until it ends
This kind of movement doesn’t demand anything. It gives you something back.
When It Feels Like Bedtime at 5 PM
It’s not just you. The sun really does set at 4:47. And yes, it absolutely feels like bedtime not long after. The temptation to crawl under a blanket and stay there is real.
But we’ve found something that helps us reconnect. Something simple. Music.
It shifts the energy just enough. Helps us feel into our bodies again, even when motivation is low. It reminds us that we don’t need to move for anyone else and we don’t always have to attend the HIIT or pilates class. We can move because it feels good. Or grounding. Or just different than not moving at all.
Pinky & Kamal Winter Movement Mini-Playlist
This playlist isn’t made for pushing. It’s made for swaying. For softness. For remembering how it feels to be in your body when everything else is asking you to freeze. Here's a fav movement song from each of our PK girliesKay - "Envious" – SALUT
Cool and lowkey. R&B with just enough movement.
Stella - "B-Side" – Khruangbin & Leon Bridges
Effortless and warm. Feels like golden hour on loop.
Denise - "Heavenly Mother" - Pip Millet
Warm and introspective. Feels like moving through something tender.
Lucia - "No One's Watching Me" - Ezra Collective
Playful and free. Jazz-infused with rhythm that moves without trying.
Natalie - "Empowerment" by FACESOUL
Grounded and powerful. A slow rise that feels like coming home to yourself
If You’re Moving Slowly Too
If you’re out here trying to move your body through winter without turning it into a self-improvement project, we see you.
Movement doesn’t need to be intense. It doesn’t need to be tracked. It doesn’t even need to happen every day.
This winter, we’re reclaiming slow movement as a kind of love language. For our bodies. For each other. For this quiet, low-light season that asks us to listen more closely and soften where we can.
If you’re moving gently, you’re doing enough. If you’re not moving at all today, you’re still enough.
We’re right here with you.
With love,
TEAM PK
