PRODUCT CARE

Every Pinky & Kamal piece is designed to be worn, loved and worn again. Many of our garments are made from natural fibres - bamboo, organic cotton, merino, mohair and wool - which are beautifully soft but need a little extra care. Look after them well and they will stay with you season after season.

Treat your knitwear as you would fine wool or cashmere. Even where a care label says machine washable, we recommend a gentle hand wash in cool water with a wool-friendly detergent, or simply spot cleaning marks as they happen.

Don't soak, wring or twist your knit. Instead, gently press out the water, roll the garment in a clean towel to absorb the excess, then reshape and dry flat in the shade. Avoid the dryer and direct sunlight, which can shrink, stretch and fade natural fibres.

Natural fibres such as wool, merino, mohair, bamboo and organic cotton are naturally breathable and odour resistant, so they don't need washing after every wear. Between wears, simply air your pieces out - lay knitwear flat or drape it over a chair in a well-ventilated spot, out of direct sun, and let it refresh overnight.

Wash only when a garment is visibly marked or no longer feels fresh. Washing less extends the life of your garment, keeps colours richer for longer, and saves water and energy.

Pilling - the small balls of fibre that can form on the surface of a knit - is a natural characteristic of soft, natural yarns and is not a fault. It happens when short fibres work loose and tangle together through friction, most often under the arms, along the sides and wherever a bag strap or seatbelt rubs.

To keep pilling to a minimum, wash inside out (or in a mesh wash bag), avoid rough surfaces, and rotate your knits so they get time to rest between wears. When pills appear, gently remove them with a fabric shaver or knit comb on a flat surface. Pilling usually settles after the first few wears and washes, once the loose fibres have been removed.

If a loop of yarn gets pulled, please don't cut it. Gently stretch the fabric either side of the snag to ease the yarn back into place, or use a blunt needle or small crochet hook to pull the loop through to the inside of the garment.

Our Studio Fabric (63% bamboo/27% organic cotton/10% spandex) is soft, breathable and lightweight. Because it's made predominantly from natural, plant-based fibres, the fabric can show some sheerness when it's stretched.

This is normal for this fabric composition and is not a fault. In everyday wear it should only be noticeable if the fabric is stretched beyond its natural fit - for example, if a garment is sized too small. If you're between sizes or would like extra coverage, we recommend checking our size guide or reaching out to our team for fit advice.

Wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, with similar colours - or hand wash. Use a mild detergent and skip fabric softener and bleach, which can break down natural fibres and stretch over time. Line or flat dry in the shade, and avoid the dryer, as heat can affect the stretch and cause shrinkage.

Wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and line dry in the shade. Avoid fabric softener, the dryer and ironing. To reduce microfibre shedding, wash only when needed and consider using a microfibre-catching wash bag.

Fold your knitwear rather than hanging it, as the weight of the yarn can stretch the shoulders and neckline over time. Store clean, dry garments in a cool, dark place, and use natural deterrents like cedar or lavender to help protect wool and mohair from moths.
